Recruiting News Surrounding The Iowa Hawkeye Football Team
National signing day is not far away for high school football players and news surrounding potential recruits that Iowa is looking at is becoming more abundant.
The Hawkeyes already have 18 players committed for this year’s class and are looking to continue to add to that total. The Hawkeyes are going to need some depth at running back and on the defensive line next season, which is why the recruiting news involves players at those positions. Also Kirk Ferentz headed west to make a push for two offensive linemen that are being heavily recruited.
Here is the latest recruiting news surrounding the Iowa Hawkeye football team.
RB Akeel Lynch

Blair Sanderson, of Rivals, sent out a tweet saying, “the Iowa Hawkeyes running backs coach Lester Erb is visiting three-star prospect Akeel Lynch today”. According to Rivals, Lynch has given a soft verbal to Boston College but has many offers from teams in BCS conferences. Lynch is 6’0”, 205 pounds and is from Athol Springs, New York.
DE Evan Schwan

Sanderson would also send out a tweet saying, “Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz called Harrisburg, PA DE Evan Schwan on Sunday. Hawkeyes will be visiting him later this week”. During the “On Iowa” podcast, they touched on Schwan and pointed out that LaVar Woods would be making the trip to visit with the 6’6” defensive end. Schwan has made a visit to UConn while also receiving offers from Kent State, Cornell and Rutgers as well.
Kirk Ferentz visiting OG’s in Colorado
Some more tweets by Sanderson, also revealed that Kirk Ferentz was on the recruiting trail yesterday as he headed to Colorado to meet with two offensive guards, Joey O’Connor and Alex Kozan. Both of these prospects are being heavily recruited by some of the top teams from BCS conferences. According to Scout.com, Kozan is rated as the 16th best offensive guard nationally and O’Connor is ranked 17th.
